Getting to Sempu Island

Since there’s no regular public transportation to this remote area, it’s highly recommended that you use a private vehicle. The roads are generally in good condition, even though the terrain is mountainous.
At Sendang Biru Beach, you’ll find a bustling fish auction site (TPI) where you can rent a fisherman’s boat to take you across to Sempu Island. The round-trip fare typically ranges from Rp 150,000 to Rp 200,000. Be sure to get the boatman’s contact number so you can arrange your return trip.
Exploring Segoro Anakan
The main attraction on Sempu Island is a natural lake called Segoro Anakan, which means “child of the ocean” in Javanese. This fascinating lake is directly connected to the open sea by a natural tunnel carved into the rock.
Around Segoro Anakan, you’ll find a designated camping area, allowing you to spend the night on the island and truly immerse yourself in its natural beauty. If you plan to camp, remember to bring all the necessary supplies and food, as there are no shops on the island. The peaceful environment, combined with the stunning scenery, makes camping here an unforgettable experience.
